The seemingly-random arrangement of the letters on the keyboard had little to do with the needs of the typist. It took app economy darling SwiftKey to innovate it in a powerful new direction. The keyboard is a living fossil and the alignment of its keys hints at the strange history of its origins. If you press and hold a word, a popup will ask if you want to prevent this word from being suggested again.How SwiftKey built the world’s smartest keyboard and soared to the top of the app economy If you want to permanently prevent a word from being suggested, you can do so by pressing and holding the word when it appears in the suggested words bar. The suggested words will generally be suggested again, at which point you can tap one of the suggestions to correct the autocorrection.
If you find that Microsoft SwiftKey is suggesting and autocorrecting to words you don’t want, you can move the cursor back to the word. This is particularly helpful if autocorrect keeps automatically correcting a word that you actually want to type because it doesn’t recognize it as a valid word. The left-most suggested word should always be the word you’ve typed, with no changes made. You can teach Microsoft SwiftKey new words by typing the word out, then selecting the left-most of the three suggested words. It is unfortunately not possible to disable the predictive search, if you wanted to use autocorrect as a straight replacement, as autocorrection can only be an addition to predictive text. In Microsoft SwiftKey, autocorrect will always take the center suggestion from the predictive text suggestions when autocorrect is enabled. Tap “Autocorrect” in the “Typing” settings to enable autocorrect. Simply tap this slider to enable autocorrect. The topmost setting in the “Typing” settings is “Autocorrect”.
